Through performance and education, Wild Rhythm seeks to respectfully reflect and contribute to the great dance traditions of Lindy Hop and Vernacular Jazz.
MISSION STATEMENT
Wild Rhythm seeks to connect with authentic sources of lindy hop and vernacular jazz — a predominantly African American dance style developed in the 1920’s in ballrooms of New York’s Harlem.
From this source, we create material for performance. Our work process is built on respect towards the dance’s living traditions and is energized by an innovative, personal spirit unique to the performers.
With this unique material, we seek to educate and inspire new audiences. Our work aims to convey the artistic value and cultural significance that the dance offers.
